PIX, Facebook, & Studio

Oct. & Nov., the harvest months, are bursting with creativity for the band. The Hanukkah Concert at XM Live, a photo shoot, recording the full band album & surprisingly, making lots of contacts on Facebook. Interestingly, not as many gigs, but that means there's more time to write, rehearse & plan our ultimate goal ... global domination!
John P. Hamel, an amazing photographer, who's work has been featured in such magazines as Sport Illustarted did an abosultely wonderful job. Really captured our humor & whimsy on a crisp autumn day.

Rockin' Hanukkah in October?

We just recorded our hour long Rockin' Hanukkah Concert in XM Studios in DC. This is the coolest & greatest place ever! The sound is impeccible. You feel like a rock star. A modest, hand picked, but enthusiastic audience made it lots of fun. We did our version of "My Little Dreidle" which sounds like a mix of Greatful Dead, Little Feet & zydeco. A new tune "Eight Days" had a great Bo Diddly feel, yet somehow I always seem to channel some Lux Interior when it comes to roackabilly. No, it wasn't scary, just fun. Ended with (I'm very proud to say) a U2/Yardbirds "Maoz Tzur." That one's not to be missed!

We'll keep you posted on air times on both XM Hanukkah & XM Kids.
Plus a few Hanukkah Concerts in NYC, Long Island, Philly & of course, Joisy!

Rain. Rain. Go away!

So, it's a soggy summer so far. On Saturday, July 5th eve, our trio (Yosi, Joe & G-Whiz), had the pleasure of setting up under grey skies in Barnegat, NJ. Well, all systems were go, until it started to rain TWO MINUTES BEFORE OUR PERFORMANCE!! Oh, there was no canopy, no covering, & no time to move to an indoor location. We simply got wet covering equipment with tarps for the ten minute shower. Soon, after the clouds rolled away & we were pulling off tarps, plugging plugs & instruments to perform. Luckily, the audience stuck around in cars until the shower passed & got back on the wet dock overlooking the Barnegat Bay for our damp concert.

And tonite, Monday, July 7th eve, we had a scheduled concert in Seaside Park with the full four-piece band. Well, the rain was threatening all day, & a sprinkle or two did occur. So, the promoter, holding out until 4:00pm finally called to cancel the show due to impending thunderstorm. Well, now at least we didn't have to get soggy again. However, the skies cleared for the evening, but unfortunately the show was already canceled! D'oh!

Gordon!

We got the call Friday morning to perform on Saturday at South Street Seaport, NYC Children's Day. Talk about last minute. Seems an act couldn't make it. Our dear friend Rebecca Frezza hooked us up with the promoter, & we got the gig. Although, only three of us could make it. Steve, our drummer, was swamped in family stuff. We've done the gig as a trio in the past. One awesome thing was we got to meet Gordon! ...(aka Roscoe Orman) ...from Sesame Street! He was a wonderful presence. Just as good natured, positive and kind as you've seen him on TV. He announced us, reading our blurb, but stopped after the part about singing in "four-part harmonies"...turned to us & said to the audience, "that's super ...three guys singing in four part harmonies." Ha! Gordon's with it!

We didn't think of it, but someone should have taken a picture of us with Gordon.
What a fun gig!

Roadtrip to VA!!

The Superdads had a weekend full of gigs in Virginia!! Unfortunately, guitarist extraordinaire G-Whiz had a family wedding to attend. So, we had the good fortune of having Yosi's old buddy Pete Groff join the tour. Pete had performed on two Yosi discs & was the lead guitarist in Yosi's punk band in the late 80's.
On the way down to Newport News we had a chance to talk, listen to XM Comedy, music & chow down at Cracker Barrel. Not many Cracker Barrels in NJ so we always make it a point to stop at one once when heading south. Upon arrival at Newport News we headed out for some great southern BBQ!!! Mmmm, good. That eve we jammed very quietly in the hotel room & ended up writing a brand new tune. Bassist Jammin' Joe came up with an idea about contagious cooties, & before long we had another song in the bank.
Next day we performed three outdoor shows at the Children's Festival of Friends. The weather was perfect: blue skies, warm, slight cool breeze. Lots of fun, singing & dancing with kids.
Sunday morning we headed north to Jammin Java in Vienna, VA. They had some kickin' sandwiches & salads. Four old friends of the band showed up with their families, amongst a big birthday party for twin girls, & a few others. The sound was wonderful, & the crowd got boogy. There were some requests to perform"Hole in The Ground" & "BEACH." Of course, we wouldn't disappoint. Also included The B-Day song in G-major. Oh, we had a chance to feature another new tune, "Thank You."
We're planning another quick Full Band tour on Saturday, May 17, two shows at McLean Day in McLean, VA.
Also, a Duo appearance (Yosi & Jammin' Joe) at Morning Concerts for Kids in Gaithersburg, MD on Thursday, May 29.

Zoo baby!!

Alrighty! It's been quite some time since the last post...

Obviously, blogging is a wee bit more time cosuming than I'd ever imagined. Even as I quickly type this I've been distracted by a phone call, a child & a loving spouse. So to make it short and sweet...The Superdads just rocked the Philly Zoo (just look at those monkeys) for their PARTY FOR THE PLANET event. We had our mugs posted on a 15 second ad on 6ABC News in Philly. The day was beautiful, warm & lots of happy families joined us on Saturday.

The next day we were at the Philly Library @ a really cool looking (old fashion) basement theatre. thanks for coming out for that concert!

Saturday, April 26 we're back at (yet another Philly location) The Kimmel Center!

Looking forward to it!

Rock on!
